I’m a Research Scientist at the Institute of Polymer Science and Technology, CSIC (Spain). I work on both foamed and bulk polymer (nano)composites. I got my MSc in Physics from the University of Valladolid (Spain) and my PhD in Metallurgy and Materials from the University of Birmingham (UK). I then joined the group lead by Prof. Milo Shaffer as a Research Associate at Imperial College London, working in nanocomposite polymer foams. After that I moved back to Spain and joined ICTP-CSIC in 2006 thanks to a Juan de la Cierva contract and then held a Ramón y Cajal contract.

I am currently developing 3 main areas:

  1. Polymer Composites and Nanocomposites,
  2. Polymer Foams,
  3. Smart Polymers: dielectric elastomer actuators.

Summary: More than 100 scientific publications in prestigious peer-reviewed international journals, including: Prog. Polym. Scien. (2), Adv. Mater. (2), Chem. Mater. (2), Chem. Commun. (1), J. Mater. Chem. (7), Macromolecules (4), Carbon (2), Langmuir (1), Soft Matter (2), Polymer (6), among others. Almost 90% of them published in journals within the first quartile (Q1) of their area.
